St Mary’s prides itself on being cutting edge in its education processes. Remaining at the forefront of education requires sustainable funding. This sustainability cannot be realised by simply increasing school fees each year.

St Mary’s Foundation has created an endowment which aims to build a capital base. The return on investment of this capital will support education For Girls, training and developing teachers and funding of community affairs programmes.

The School’s vision for the next decade is to address the shortage of teachers and to make the School accessible to girls who show potential but lack the means to attend St Mary’s. Attracting, retaining and developing top-class teachers is key to sustaining effective education.

Education for girls and especially young, talented girls from diverse backgrounds will aid the process of providing skilled women to fill leadership roles in the public and corporate arena in South Africa for the future – a priority on the current national agenda.

St Mary’s is an independent school for girls from Grade 000 to Matric, rich in history, and which exudes spirit and integrity as reflected in its Anglican tradition. St Mary’s School, Waverley, was established in 1888 and, as the oldest school in Johannesburg, South Africa, it provides a relevant, 21st century global education.
